Europe 2014 - Zurs to Verbier

We awoke Friday to some fresh snow and cloudy skies.  We enjoyed our final breakfast buffet then headed out to the Arlberg slopes one last time.  Dick's group headed out to St. Anton while Linc and Meesh headed to the Lech Warth area.  The snow was good but the visibility was limited.  The St. Anton crew headed up the Valluga and then proceeded to miss the turn-off to the bus and had to flag it down on the highway.

Europe 2014 - Zurs, Introducing Pino

We awoke Thursday to another blue sky.  Dick's group had a special guest in the form of "Pino" from the Zurs Ski/Guide School.  After a quick warm-up run on the Madloch is was off into the never-never somewhere in a back valley eventually arriving back in Zug.  On the way they encountered several dubious traverses over cliffy areas, a mountain goat and plenty of untracked pow.  The journey was long, they hiked to Switzerland and back according to some, everyone had a blast and a few were feeling the effects of the previous nights drambuie's.

Europe 2014 - Zurs, Powder Day

The call to switch days off was a great one as we awoke to blue skies, fresh snow and no one around.  Pictures are worth 1,000 words so I'll just mention the highlights.  All the groups skied hard and had a great time exploring the off-piste.  Great runs were had as well as great crashes.  Some crashes were done off to the side where no one could see, while others were directly under the chair inplain view to everyone.  Snow seems to get inside everything and one even invented a new move, twoga.

Europe 2014 - Zurs, here comes the snow.

Monday morning we woke up to blue skies and sunshine.  After a breakfast feast we split into our groups and headed out to the slopes.  Some headed right for the Ubungshang lift while others took the bus to Lech.  With conditions still firm, the crew made thier way over to the new Auenfeldjet lift and the Warth area.  This new area to the Arlberg offered some great rolling terrain as well as some great off-piste terrain.

Europe 2014 - Zurs, Day 1

It was tough to leave Paris but the Alps were calling.  We all assembled at the Gare de Lyon awaiting to board the TGV for Zurich.  There were some tense moments on the platform as the last missing bag from the airport arrived with just 5 minutes to spare.   With everyone aboard and luggage strewn throughout the whole car, we were off.  Flying through the countryside at a top speed of 315 km/h we reached Zurich in no time.  There we met up with the remaining few and boarded the bus to Zurs.  First comment the bus driver made was no surprise, "so much luggage."
